Week 5 of the 2019 NFL season ends this evening when the San Francisco 49ers host the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football. It’s an intriguing matchup between two up-and-coming organizations that each aspire to end their respective postseason droughts this year. The Browns are going on 16 years without a playoff appearance, by far the longest active streak in the league, while the Niners haven’t returned to the postseason since their run to the 2013 NFC Championship Game, the fourth longest active stretch. Cleveland was one of the most hyped teams coming into the year, but an up-and-down start has left them at 2-2 coming into this primetime affair and desperate for a win to get above .500. San Francisco is in much better shape after winning its first three contests—the club was on a bye last week—and is the only organization aside from the New England Patriots to still boast an unblemished record.
